Length of Stay (LOS) benchmarks address varying stays associated with every ICD-9-CM code and for patients in five age groups, enabling you to identify stays that are realistic and on-target for your patients' unique characteristics.

Data for the LOS benchmarks are compiled from an all-payer database representing approximately 20 million discharges. Our standards are based on actual inpatient LOS and give more reliable guidelines than criteria- or survey-based models.

Benchmark files include: specialty norms, diagnosis-related groups (DRG), pediatric, psychiatric, commercial payer, Medicaid, Medicare and Workers Compensation. All data files address both diagnosis and operation except DRG and Psychiatric, and are available at a U.S. National or Regional norm comparative, with the exception of Geriatric and Pediatric. The U.S. national and regional norms include data from acute care facilities in the United States.
